The companies first major hit (and arguably the classic model its still known for today) was introduced in 1917, this was the Converse all-star basketball shoe. In 1923, basketball player Charles H “Chuck” Taylor walked into the store complaining of sore feet. He began working for the brand and his 1932 signature model (Converse Chuck Taylor) was added to the business, and the rest they say is history.

As well as producing seasonal collections of shoes and clothing, the company have also manufactured several ‘special edition’ versions. This includes collaborations with brands and artists such as Pink Floyd, The Ramones, AC/DC, The Clash, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimi Hendrix, Miley Cyrus, Metallica and more!

Converse have become a ‘staple’ of the fashion industry and of many subcultures particularly within music and extreme sports. They have also made ‘appearances’ in well over 650 films including movies such as Back to the Future, Grease and Stand by Me, cementing their place in popular culture.
